I am so excited to say that on this Monday, I am not rushing around trying to post this and still get to school on time. It is Spring Break in my corner of Florida! Woo-Hoo!

Even though I have the week off from school, I didn't want to take the week off from posting

Memory Verse Monday, especially since it's Holy Week.

Our verse this week is 1 Corinthians 6:14.

Palm Tree FREEBIE

My FREEBIE for TBA this week is in honor of Palm Sunday which will be celebrated this weekend.

I've had this in my store at TPT and I recently revisited it and was embarrassed by how it looked:(

So I trashed the old one and redid it!

It is a palm tree set of number cards 0-100.

They could be used for calendar numbers, number ordering (least to greatest and greatest to least).

It also includes a +,-, and = sign in case you want to use it to build addition and subtraction sentences.

Lots of uses for it. Hope your kids can use it.

I don't know why the last row of numbers is not showing up in the preview file, 

but it does show up when you print it (arrrrrg).

Take It & Make It with the 2nd Grade Pad

I'm glad to be back with The 2nd Grade Pad for another week
of Take It and Make It.

In honor of the Easter season, I wanted to share with you a craft idea 

that is included in my new Easter packet, He's Alive!

If you click on the cover above, you can download the directions and pattern.

Copy the cross pattern for each child. Or you could have them trace and cut out of card stock.

(I used card stock because I wanted it to be sturdier.)

Next tear up scraps of brown construction paper and have them cover the entire cross with the scraps.

It gives it a rugged, wooden look.

Copy the scripture page and have them fold it over and glue it to itself.

I have included a copy with no color and also a blank template in case you want to choose a different verse,

or have your kids write it themselves.

Memory Verse Monday!

It's a special Monday for me because we are on the countdown for Spring Break here.

This is our last week before vacation.

Hope you are all close to yours (if you haven't had it yet).
Our verse this week is Matthew 21:7-9 and covers the Triumphal Entry.
It includes this coloring sheet, word cards, a secret code sheet and a large leaf pattern to write the verse on and color/decorate for Palm Sunday.

Last minute craft idea for St. Patrick's Day

If you are like me, sometimes I look up & think, "oh, I should have made something for........" 

Well this time, it's St. Patrick's Day!

I admit that I did not have to do that this year.

I have 2 of THE SWEETEST ladies that come to my classroom and volunteer.

One is the grandmother (also a retired teacher) of one of my students that I have had for 2 years 

(I taught 1st last year & 2nd this year) and the other is an art teacher friend of hers.

They come in twice a month dressed in whatever holiday or theme we are working on.

They are our own "Ms. Frizzles!"

They always do a matching craft or snack and my kids LOVE IT and them.

They just cheer whenever I tell them it's the day:)

Their St. Patrick's Day craft was super cute & EASY and I wanted to share it with you for 

Cynthia's Take It, Make It.

Leprechaun Craft

Needed Items 

paper plates (orange or white & have them color it)

pink/flesh tone construction paper circle

2 shamrocks (stickers or cutouts)

extra paper scraps for details

Cut around the edge of the plate.

Glue a circle in the middle for the face.

Add shamrock glasses.

These were glitter stickers.

Add the frames for the glasses.

Have them add face details using crayons or markers.

Use paper scraps to make a hat.

Another look:)

Hope this is easy for you to throw together, in case you still need something for your kids to make.

My advice to you...

When I found out that Christi was going to do a linky with advise for those who are feeling overwhelmed,
I thought... well that's me, so I'll read the advise:)
But the longer I thought about it, the more I realized that many of us (ok, me)
just need to get back to the main thing.

I know that for most of us we have so MANY school things that completely bog us down
and then our personal stuff added to it can just be overwhelming.

I get it...RtI packets that need to be caught up AGAIN,
can you say, "meeting every day of the week,"
grades need to be updated,
my report is late for the committee that I'm in charge of,
I have pick-up duty,
copies, laminating (love that one), phone calls, scheduling,
THE test is coming up and my salary depends on it,
and then the homefront...
kids that need a ride to dance, picked up,
church activities, practice of some sort,
dinner to cook, on and on and on and on......
I think we all feel it.

So here is the advise I give myself that I'll pass on to the overwhelmed, overworked, tired, sick and tired, and the ok but complaining anyway group (of which I am a member).

Live in every day, in every moment.
Stop looking ahead and behind and take a look around at today.
Stop looking at the mound that needs to get done
and the stack that never made it to the top of the list.

What or better yet, WHO is in your path right now?

Get back to the main thing, which is your kids.

On those days when you are overwhelmed by the "job" put your kids first again.
The ones that God put in your classroom this year, right now, today.
Yes, the ones that are driving you crazy,
yes, the ones that are making you wish for summer or a new career.
Give them a second look.
Look under that wild behavior and see what they are really saying to you.
Love them like mad and let the paperwork come (or go) as it will.
That stack will always be there, but your time is limited with your kids in one way or another.
There are some special, special kids out there that we are meant to love and help along their way.
I think if we would really focus on the child, then his/her RtI packet would be a little easier to fill out because then it's not about paperwork...it's about a child.

One moment at a time, one day at a time.
One child at a time.
What more do we have anyway?

And while we're working on our perspective here's one for you.
This sweet little boy's name is Cole.

Cole is not really interested in our paperwork right now.
He's a little boy who is fighting cancer and needs some support.

 In the bigger scheme of things we have precious little time with the kids we've been given.
When you are feeling bogged down or overwhelmed or discouraged, take the time to look around. Somewhere, somehow, for someone you were meant to make a difference:)
